Writing group

PoW-WoW (Prince of Wales Writers on Writing) is a friendly, informal, and supportive group for anybody interested in writing fiction. We meet every Tuesday in the cocktail bar at the Prince of Wales pub in Moseley, Birmingham.

Sessions run from 8-10pm. In the first hour there is a guided discussion on a different topic each week, in the second there is a chance for members to read their work and get constructive feedback from the rest of the group. There is a charge of £5 for each session, but there is no obligation to commit- sessions are run on a drop-in basis. No writing experience is needed, just enthusiasm and an open mind!

Pow-Wow Plus

Pow-Wow Plus takes place on the second Wednesday of every month, and is a small group, focussed session for critiquing only: there are no introductions, discussions or social elements, just four 30-minute sessions of reading and feedback. Reading slots can be booked on Tuesday nights, and cost £10, but Pow-Wow Plus is free if you want to come along to hear and critique other people’s work (which can in itself be very helpful to your own writing.)

Just finished the ten week course at the MAC. Fantastic sessions for anyone looking to learn the basics or further develop their skills.
Andy Killeen is an adept writer and sensitive guide who inspires all but doesn’t pull punches about the tough journey ahead. Very supportive group and an ideal forum in which to share and read your own work.
